Example of successful legal support provided by the Center for a foreigner

A Chinese student of a Moscow university requested for a review of her master's thesis at the website homework.ru to make sure it complied with the Russian language norms, and paid for the service more than 12 K RUR at this website.  The service was never provided, she canceled the order and demanded the refund. The website team started to shrink from paying the refund.

Following a consultation with the Center’s Executive Partner as to legal ways to resolve the conflict, the student had negotiations with the website team, as recommended, and the refund was made the same day.

Abstract from her  letter to the Executive Partner:

Dear Nikolay,

Upon your advice, I said to the company what you had suggested, and they have just refunded 12,128.40 RUR. If it had not been for your help, I would not have succeeded. Thank you very much! You are the best lawyer! My future employment will be in Beijing. If I am ever able to be of any help for you, please do not hesitate to contact me!  :)

Bazovy Element (Base Element) wanted to buy a considerable block of shares of the Arkhangelsk Pulp-and-Paper Mill (a company worth several hundred million US dollars); however nobody intended to sell such block.

As a result of many years’ well-coordinated efforts of the project team, including the lawyer Nikolay Korytko, Bazovy Element’s entities got about 34% of the Arkhangelsk Pulp-and-Paper Mill’s shares.
